While venture capitalists backed application-layer startups like Coinbase in previous bull markets, the research firm said this year backers will go back to basics. Robert Le, a cryptocurrency analyst at Pitchbook, said that we have not seen any application receive such large investment this cycle. Instead, venture capital firms are focusing on infrastructure projects. In the first quarter, venture capital investment in the cryptocurrency space increased by 40% from the previous quarter to $2.4 billion.
